About Sardar Smruti Bhavan
Sardar Smruti Bhavan at Mini Bazar is one of the Surat Municipal Corporation's larger auditoriums, with 1,201 seats, and the main hall for Varachha and the eastern half of the city. The building stands on a 5,700 sq m plot beside the corporation's multi-level car park. Inside, a 65 ft by 35 ft wooden stage is backed by six green rooms and two control rooms for sound and lighting, and the hall is centrally air-conditioned. The corporation rents it by time slot, and it is used for Gujarati plays, music programmes, award ceremonies, school and college functions and large community meetings. Seating is spread over the ground and foyer levels, with a waiting lounge on the ground floor.
