Things to do in Varachha

Varachha, east of the railway line, is the centre of Surat's diamond cutting and polishing trade and home to much of the city's Saurashtra-origin community. Sardar Smruti Bhavan at Mini Bazaar, a municipal auditorium with 1,201 seats beside the corporation's multi-level parking, hosts plays, music nights, award functions and community programmes, and the 317-seat Swami Vivekanand Auditorium at Umarwada takes smaller shows. Navratri brings large community garba to grounds along Varachha Road and in Mota Varachha. Many diamond workers travel home during the industry's Diwali break, so the area is unusually quiet that week. BRTS corridors pass through Hirabaug.
