Adajan lies across the Tapi from the old city and is west Surat's main residential district, built around family outings rather than nightlife. The Jagdishchandra Bose Municipal Aquarium on Adajan–Hazira Road, opposite Star Bazaar, is its best-known attraction, though the corporation's site listed it as temporarily closed for civil work when this was written, so check before you go. Riverside gardens, temple complexes and long restaurant rows fill the evenings, and in winter stalls selling ponk, the roasted tender sorghum that South Gujarat waits for, appear on this side of the river. BRTS corridors run from Adajan Patiya to Jahangirpura and to Pal.
